Owen Daniels, a Pro Bowl tight end, just signed a one-year, $2.79 million contract with the Texans, but obviously that was not his final goal. His agents has said that Daniels should be the NFL’s highest-paid players at his position, and they are still seeking for a longer and more valuable contract.
“I’d be a little upset,” Daniels said in May about the possibility of playing for the one-year, $2.79 million tender. “I think I’ve earned more than a one-year (contract). I see myself being here for a long time. I don’t want to be anywhere else, but every player wants security.”
Daniels, 26 years old, was a third-year restricted free agent before the contract with the Texans. He caught a career-high 70 passes for 862 yards last season. He had been skipping OTAs because of contract issued for last week.
