Buccaneers QB Leftwich will face former team Saturday night

On Saturday night in the preseason game in Jacksonville, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Byron Leftwich will likely play as a starter and play against his former team Jaguars.

The veteran quarterback, however, did not think it is a special thing to have the chance of becoming starter playing against the team releasing him two years ago. And visiting Jacksonville in a different nfl jersey is not even a new story. Last year he visited Jacksonville as a Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback but did not play in game.

“As a quarterback in this league, most of us are going to get thrown into what I call a blender. They throw you in, and they hit liquefy or ice-crush. You’ve just got to survive it,” Leftwich said.“If you can survive it, it makes you a better person. I believe it makes you a better quarterback because it gets you prepared for a lot of different situations.”

Leftwich spent four seasons with the Jaguars and once helped the team get to the playoffs as a starter. He lost the job to David Garrard in 2007 late in training camp and then joined the Atlanta Falcons the third week of the season. After spending 2008 as Ben Roethlisberger’s backup in Pittsburgh, he was offered an opportunity to compete for starting job by the Buccaneers this offseason.
