Disappointing CB Green was released by the Dolphins

As a veteran cornerback, Eric Green was believed to be a disappointment in the Miami Dolphins training camp after he was signed as an unrestricted free agent in March. And disappointed Dolphins finally chose to end the contract on Wednesday.

After starter Andre’ Goodman was signed by the Denver Broncos during the offseason, the Dolphins had been looking for a replacement. Green, a veteran who spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before becoming a free agent, was among the choices. His being released left only two contenders for the starting job.

The two who are competing for the job now are rookies Sean Smith and Vontae Davis. Both of them took part in Monday’s exhibition opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Smith made an interception and Davis was flagged for three penalties.
