NFL gave four-game suspension to Chiefs WR Bowe

After boldly releasing top running back Larry Johnson, the Kansas City Chiefs will lose another key player for four games: wide receiver Dwayne Bowe was suspended for four games by the NFL on Tuesday. The reason given is that he violated the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances.

As most players’ agents would do, Bowe’s agent, Todd France said his client did not take performance-enhancing drug, but test positive because he took a weight loss supplement that contains diuretic, something is banned by the league’s policy.

“Dwayne did not take a steroid or any other performance-enhancing drug,” France said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. “However he took a diuretic for weight loss, which unfortunately has a negative effect under the league’s policy. Dwayne is sincerely disappointed and apologetic that he let down the Chiefs organization, his teammates and the fans. He looks forward to returning and putting this situation behind him.”

Not sure whether the team, teammates and fans would accept the apology, but it will definitely affect the team much to lose Bowe, who has 189 catches for 2,483 yards (13.1 ypc) and 16 touchdowns in 40 games in his three-year career wearing NFL jersey.
