A movie studio will repay Saints and other investors nearly $1.9 million

Wayne Read, chief executive of Louisiana Film Studios LLC, said he intends to repay members of the New Orleans Saints and others the nearly $1.9 million he received from them with either cash or with tax credits acquired from a broker.

Coach Sean Payton, quarterback Drew Brees and Hall of Famer Archie Manning were among those who bought what they thought were state film industry tax credits. A state official, however, said the studio never applied for them.

The investments, which were due to be repaid on March 31, basically would have given the investors a 33 percent return on their money. But no players wearing lions jersey have gotten the money yet.

"The Saints players made their investments in November 2008. I was hoping to repay their investments in five months," Read said in the statement. "Unfortunately, the current economy is the worst seen in the U.S. in many decades and has slowed my ability to repay the investors as quickly as I would like."

According to the Associated Press, there are 27 people who invested the firm. Defensive lineman Charles Grant invested $425,000, Payton, $144,000; Brees, $100,000; and Manning, $100,000. Kevin Houser, the Saints former long snapper also said he invested $125,000.

Saints LB Dan Morgan made his final decision to retire

Saints LB Dan Morgan's agent Drew Rosenhaus revealed the news on his Twitter page. And it is only 4 months after Morgan came back to the team. It is time for fans to collect his mitchell and ness made jerseys as memorial.

“Dan Morgan has informed the Saints that he has decided to retire due (to) continued injuries,” Rosenhaus said. “Dan would like to thank the Saints for the chance to come back this year, but injuries would not let him continue his career. His decision is final, and he will be moving on to focus on his restaurant business in Charlotte. Dan also wants to be able to spend more time with his wife and children.”

Morgan is a one-time Pro Bowler with the Panthers and was signed by the Saints last year. He never played in a game with the team and retired last year because of injuries. However, in February he anounced coming back with the Saints and put on Mitchell and Ness NFL jersey again as a professional player. It was not long ago, so it is really a surprise his agent said he made the final decision to retire.

Saints TE Shockey plans to attend voluntary practice

Tight end Jeremy Shockey had a plan to take part in Saints voluntary workouts, in the aim to turn focus on him back to football. About 2 weeks ago, he was treated at a hospital for dehydration after being found unconscious at a pool party at a Las Vegas resort.

Shockey said he has not participated in voluntary practices in his previous seven NFL seasons and did not attend the first four of the team's voluntary offseason practices. But recently he planned to attend voluntary workouts so as to get better acquainted with quarterback Drew Brees and coach Sean Payton's offense.

"If you're halfway intelligent you can read what everybody wrote," Shockey said. "You know what they say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. That's in the past. I'm looking forward to the future."

"I still haven't been here a year so I can mature a long way and tune up my game," he said. "The most important thing is to know Drew and know what we're trying to get accomplished and knowing each other's game. It's still a new offense for me. I'm going to treat it as a rookie like anyone else in this locker room that just got here."

So hopefully we will see more appearance of Shockey this coming season.
