Patriots RB was will miss Sunday’s game with ankle injury

The New England Patriots running back Fred Taylor was injured again and is expected to miss this Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos as he sat his second straight day of practice Thursday. And there has been reports saying that Taylor may need a surgery on his right ankle.

After spending 11 seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Taylor managed to lead the Patriots in rushing in his first season with New England. He has 201 yards on 45 carries as part of a four-man backfield rotation along with Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. In the 26-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, he gained 105 yards on 21 attempts. A week later, he finished the game against the Baltimore Ravens with a team-high 25 yards on seven carries. It was during that 27-21 victory that Taylor got hurt on ankle.

Taylor was known as an oft-injured player. He missed one game as a rookie in 1998 with a shoulder injury, six games in 1999 with hamstring injury, three games in 2000 with knee injury, the last 14 games in 2001 with groin injury, the last two games in 2004 with knee injury, five games in 2005 with ankle injury, one game in 2006 with hamstring injury and the last three games in 2008 with thumb injury. It is still unsure how many games he will miss this season, and running back Benjarvus Green-ellis may replace him this Sunday after being inactive for three of the Patriots’ four games.
