The Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokley was fined by the NFL $25,000 for making contact with an official during last weekend’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The touch also caused the receiver to be ejected from field that night.
The veteran in his 11th season of playing football in NFL jersey was upset over the lack of an interference call on a third-down play in the first quarter of the game against the Eagles when his route was disrupted by a defender. He did not see flag and continued to sprint down field and start yelling at back judge Todd Prukop, who pointed for him to go to his sideline. Then the touch came when Stokley started to run off the field, spinning and swiping his right arm in disgust but inadvertently slapping Prukop’s hand.
The fine seemed unacceptable to Stokley and he has said that he would appeal it.
