Jets QB Sanchez missed Monday practice but remains possible for Sunday game

Although the sprained right knee is serious enough to keep the New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez from practicing Monday, Coach Rex Ryan just keeps optimistic about the rookie’s playing status for this Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“He’s so much better,” Ryan said. “We thought we were going to get good news from the MRI, we did. Just the way he’s approaching his treatment and rehab and everything else, you can tell he is definitely willing. That’s for sure.”

Sanchez will initially wear a brace to stabilize the knee, and could play with it Sunday against the Buccaneers if medical stuff confirms that he could wear back his Jets jersey to play. If so, he would have to wear two knee braces while playing because he already wears a brace on his left knee from a previous injury.
